About
Recent decades have witnessed the concept of normativity slowly moving to centerstage in philosophical discussions. While some fifty years ago, norms and rules appeared to interest mainly ethicians, political philosophers, and logicians, nowadays they have become central for other philosophers working in philosophy of language, philosophy of mind etc. 
One source of this movement was certainly the later Wittgenstein and the post-Wittgensteinian discussion of rule following as stimulated especially by Kripke's book "Wittgenstein and private language". Another largely independent source was Wilfrid Sellars with his view of man as "a creature not of habits, but of rules". Sellars' legacy has been elaborated by a host of followers into a picture which sees the human world as an essentially normative matter. Other incentives to focus upon the very phenomenon of rules have arisen from the generalization of meta-ethical considerations of the 
nature of ethical norms to other areas of philosophy, from recent approaches in social sciences to the varieties of human normative behavior (using, for example, game-theoretic tools), from considerations concerning the nature of human rationality and also from considerations of the kinds of normativity arising from various functions bestowed on living organisms by natural selection.
This conference aims to bring together people approaching rules and normativity from all perspectives, but especially from the Wittgensteinian and Sellarsian ones. We welcome contributions addressing the nature of rules, the nature of rule following, as well as the logic, semantics and ontology of normativity.

The capacity of the conference site is limited, so if you do not give a paper and want to participate, please check with us that we are still not beyond reasonable limits.
AccommodationA limited number of rooms for the participants is available at the conference site Villa Lanna (the reservations must be made via the on-line registration form and will be handled on the first come first serve basis). Double/single rooms with en suite bathroom in the 'bungalows' in the garden of the Villa Lanna plus a few rooms directly in the Villa with shared bathrooms (2000 CZK per night in double room; 1300 CZK per in single, 1500 CZK one person in a double room). All prices include breakfast.

Cheap accommodation can be purchased in several hostels of the Czech Technical University (the ones closest to the site are Dejvická, Masarykova, Sinkuleho, Orlík).
